The Star in Stripes

This may seem so cheesy to you, but this dress is sentimental to me now…IMG_8759

This past week has been super exciting and healing for my family and I. My dad is currently a long-distance truck driver. He is also the person that I believe God used to rescue me from a life of destruction after being sexually abused in my youth. Over the years, I have maintained a strong relationship with him, but I never got to see him as much as I wanted. He was able to visit me for the 4th of July holiday and stayed for a week! I was so pumped–like a child again, lol. I stopped blogging, I wasn’t on the phone or planning my next blog post. I just spent some serious time with my dad, an overwhelming feeling of joy! We watched movies, talked, went shopping, talked, went shopping and talked some more (I am my father’s daughter and now you know where the shopping comes from, lol). One of the things I have prayed for for so long is to see my dad worship God. At 34 years old, I saw this twice in one week! My dad attended my church with me for Bible Study and for worship on Sunday. What a feeling to be singing on the praise team and seeing my dad in the audience (recording me by the way, lol). What a prayer answered to sit in MY church and have MY dad sitting right beside me while I was wearing this dress. I could cry right now, but I have had to be strong for myself and for him. He also got the opportunity to bond with his son-in-laws, meeting my sister’s husband for the first time. He also got to see his granddaughter for the first–a pleasure to watch! I imagined he played with us in the same way when we were young. 🙂 I could go on and on but I won’t bore you, however I do want you to rejoice with me in my happiness! I love him more than words can express in a blog post. My dad is everything to me…

P.S. Isn’t this dress Gone With the Wind fabulous!!?
